LOST's Best Dressed

With LOST ending on Sunday, I thought it might be fun to take a look back at some of my favorite castaways' best fashion moments. Granted, they've spent a lot of time beating dirty, beaten (Ben, I'm looking at you), and generally kinda disgusting during their time on the island. But thanks to the flashbacks, flashforwards, and flash-sideways, the Losties have shown that they can be pretty stylin'.

Plus, none of them ever really look bad on the island, seeing as their physical appearances are pretty much between "fairly good looking" and "Holy Shit" on the looks scale. So even when they look bad, they still look pretty good. Of course, some of them...

have managed to pull off the whole "Island Fabulous" look better than others.

Over the next few long, long days until what is sure to be the greatest series finale ever, I'll pick a few castaways each day and say what I think is their best fashion moment. Feel free to let me know what you think!

Let's start with one of my favs, Mr. Benjamin "I'm Probably Bleeding from my Face Right Now" Linus:

Character: Benjamin Linus
Best Fashion Moment: Season 4, Episode 9: The Shape of Things to Come

When I first saw this episode, I remember thinking, "Damn, Ben looks fly!" First off, the simple charcoal trench coat is a great statement, especially on a smaller guy like Ben. It fits him perfectly too. Trench coats are also practical outerwear for pretty much every occasion, not just threatening the life of your sworn enemy's daughter.

Gotta love Ben's well-tailored suit too. I particularly like the polka-dot patterned tie with the solid gray suit and solid eggplant shirt. It makes it more interesting that an ensemble of all solids.
It's usually a good idea to contrast patterns and solids when wearing a suit, and Ben's does it nicely.

Honorable Mention: Ben's HILARIOUS safari outfit from earlier in the episode. Makes me smile every time I look at it. Oh Ben, you're so silly! (and yet so evil...)

Character: Kate "I Still Suck after Six Seasons" Austen
Best Fashion Moment: Season 5, Episode 11: Whatever Happened, Happened

Normally I hate everything that Kate is and does. Except for this outfit, I guess. First of all, her pencil skirt is fantastic! Pencil skirts are something I think every woman should have, since they never go out of style. I like the choice of slate as a neutral for this outfit, rather than black, khaki, or brown. It goes very well with the flattering scoop-neck blue sweater.

I also like the fact that the pencil skirt is high-waisted and belted at just the right place for a flattering silhouette. This would be a great outfit for the office. Or, in Kate's case, for practicing some seriously bad parenting.

Character: Sayid "I'm an Unstoppable Killing Machine" Jarrah
Best Fashion Moment: Season 4, Episode 3: The Economist

I love Sayid's golf outfit simply because he makes golfing look so sexy! (at least until he starts killing people) The light stripes on the polo and the light khakis look great with his skin tone. Also, navy blue is a good color on pretty much everybody. The outfit is comfortable, sporty, and stylish, the perfect combo for golfing...or shooting somebody in cold blood.

This is a good episode for Sayid outfits, lol. I like the pinstriped gray suit and eggplant shirt combination here too. However, I am partial to Sayid's really curly hair, but that's just me.

Well, that's it for now. I'll be back with more of LOST's best fashion moments later on :)

First Post!!

Yay, my first-ever blog post! I've been interested in trying out blogging for awhile, and now seems as good as time as any. With LOST ending on Sunday (nooo!!!), I'm gonna need something to keep me off the streets. Plus I'm graduating from school next week. Funny how that comes second to the LOST finale...

Anyway, I'm K-10, a nerd and a fashion enthusiast. I believe all nerdy girls and guys are smart, funny, and generally awesome! Fashion has been something that helped me gain self-confidence in my life as a nerd, so I figured I could combine these two interests in writing this blog. I'll also try to include some fashion tips and advice just in case anybody feels like reading it, lol.

Hey, writing this has been fun! I hope to be back later!
